The strange chip that only the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is the most ambitious mobile that we can buy in Spain from next week. Although this mobile improves in several aspects to the S20 presented a few months ago, it is also usually the range in which Samsung usually introduces new technologies.

Beyond the periscope zoom or its gigantic 6.9-inch screen, this mobile has some oddities that are difficult to see with the naked eye, but that could be of great importance and be implemented in the future in many other mobiles. Like the chip we will talk about today.

The chip that the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has and no other mobile

Although smartphones are very affordable, they are loaded with technology and sometimes we are not fully aware that every little function requires a small and sophisticated chip. One of the connections that will soon appear on many mobiles is the UWB, a connection that the iPhone 11 already released last year and that is now beginning to reach Android.

iPhone 11, the first with Ultra Wide Band.

To integrate this connection into the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Samsung has used a very specific chip manufactured by NXP, which is very rare, since currently this mobile is the only Android that uses it.

Said chip not only includes connectivity Ultra Wide Band, but in the same way it integrates eSIM and NFC connectivity, all on the same chip.

What is the UWB for? This technology is capable of measuring distances between other devices that have the same support, allowing us to know precisely in centimeters where a keychain or nearby mobile phones are. Currently it is a chip that does not have many uses due to lack of devices, but the Note 20 Ultra is already prepared for the future.
