Netflix has had numerous major successes in recent years. Some titles in the program even made it to the Academy Awards. First reports of a continuation are currently circulating for three hits from the public.
Just a few days ago it was announced that a sequel to Susanne Bier’s “Bird Box – Close Your Eyes” is in preparation. Josh Malerman, the author of the novel of the same name, confirmed this to Inverse. In the post-apocalyptic horror film, people have to blindfold themselves since mysterious creatures have been up to mischief. If you take off the blindfold and see the monsters, then there is a risk of madness.
The main character, Malorie, was embodied in the film adaptation of Sandra Bullock. After its release in December 2018, the horror film was viewed millions of times on Netflix. If you want to know how the story continues, you can read about it from July 21. Then the continuation of the novel entitled “Malorie” will appear (initially only in English), on which the planned filming is to be roughly based.
Even more soft porn!
Already about two weeks ago the announcement about a continuation to “365 Days” was announced. Leading actor Michele Morrone confirmed on the HalaHi platform that the continuation of erotic ham will come. In the first part, Morrone played an Italian mafia boss who kidnapped a young businesswoman in order to make her sexually compliant. This then culminated in a rather questionable and silly implemented abuse story (read in our DF film criticism), but blossomed to great success and dominated the Netflix charts in June.
Incidentally, the platform itself has to deal with clear allegations. An American online petition, for example, is asking Netflix to delete the film because it would glorify and romanticize sexual violence and Stockholm syndrome. Just like “Bird Box”, “365 Days” is based on a novel, more precisely on a novel trilogy by the Polish author Blanka Lipińska. So far, the novels have not been published in German.
Return of the Immortals
With “The Old Guard”, guesswork is still in the meantime. The superhero movie just started on Netflix last Friday. Whether a sequel is coming has not yet been officially confirmed, but is currently very likely. Director Gina Prince-Bythewood has already commented on sequel plans. In an interview with the platform GamesRadar, she indicated that a sequel should also be based on the graphic novel series, which was the basis for the first part. Several cast members around leading actress Charlize Theron are said to be taken with the sequel plans.
In the action film, Charlize Theron and her colleagues play an elite unit of immortals who fight for the good all over the world. The Netflix production was praised above all for its representative effect. The central female superhero (Theron), in particular, met with affection, and her team also includes two homosexual men. At Netflix, the superhero streak appeared in the charts of numerous countries last week. Replenishment for all fans should certainly not be long in coming.
