A couple of years ago that a mobile phone had a different refresh rate than 60 Hz was really complicated. But in 2020 we are seeing how even mid-range terminals opt for 90 and 120 Hz panels, although the latter is normally reserved for flagships.
Refresh rate: what it is and why it matters on gaming phones
What is the screen refresh rate? The advancement of gaming displays shows us this term more and more: discover why it is important.
In Spain there are already several models for sale, most of which we have been able to analyze, but not all of them manage the change in the refresh rate in the same way.
For example, Samsung’s Galaxy S20s only allow the maximum rate to be used when the resolution is the minimum. Other firms like OPPO do allow you to manually change the refresh rate or set an automatic mode.
The latter is what is missing in OnePlus mobiles with a refresh rate of 90 Hz or higher, the OnePlus 7 Pro, 7T, 8 and 8 Pro.
AutoHz app improves OnePlus screen
Since Oxygen OS does not allow to configure an automatic mode to manage the refresh rate intelligently, the developer arter97 has created an application called AutoHz that will help us do that.
This application only serves for the previously mentioned models of the Chinese manufacturer, and allows you to establish a 60, 90 or 120 Hz soda cup in each of the applications that we have installed.
On the one hand, this will help us save battery power when we are using a game that does not support high refresh rates, and at the same time it will allow us to maintain the feeling of fluidity in those applications that do support it.
Of course, the application is not free although it has a very low price of 1.69 euros, quite acceptable for allowing us to configure in detail the screen of our OnePlus.
