Psychological horror in summer: At the start of the new “Mystery” series, ZDF shows a psychological thriller classic and even has a free TV premiere.
Thrill on ZDF: In the coming weeks, the broadcaster will be presenting one of four feature films in a new “Mystery” series every Wednesday. The psychological thriller kicks off on July 15th at 11:15 p.m. “The Visit” by director M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense”, “The Village”):
Siblings Tyler (Ed Oxenbould) and Becca (Olivia DeJonge) visit their grandparents in Pennsylvania for the first time. Why her mother broke off contact with them at the time is a mystery to the siblings … after all, they are warmly welcomed with homemade cookies and allowed to let off steam on the remote farm. There is only one rule: From half past nine in the evening, Becca and Tyler should not leave their room together. They quickly realize that their grandparents are not as harmless as it seems.
A highlight of the “Mystery” series is the free TV premiere of the science fiction thriller “Anon – With the Killer’s Eyes” by director Andrew Niccol on Wednesday July 22nd at 11:30 p.m. The leading roles in the sci-fi flick are Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried. The horror film follows on Wednesday, July 29 at 11.30 p.m. “The Darkness” by director Greg McLean with Kevin Bacon. At the end of the “Mystery” series, ZDF will show M. Night Shyamalan’s psychological thriller on Wednesday, August 5 at 11:15 p.m. “Split” with James McAvoy.
