The relevant authorities of the country have been very concerned that the platform that causes a furor among adolescents, could be used by China’s smart services. Of course, the company that owns the Bytedance app has denied such allegations.

A risk to national security

Tik Tok is a social network in which short videos are shared and which has achieved great success among young, and not so young, audiences. The doubts about the security in the use of data of users have turned it into a potential espionage threat that some voices have not wanted to ignore.

But there it does not end, since there is another bill that seeks outlaw the use of the application on government devices by federal employees.

The TikTok social network has gained renewed popularity during the period of confinement by COVID-19. The downloads of the mobile app skyrocketed, making it the most used application during confinement along with the Zoom video calling platform. In fact, it is estimated that the app currently has 1,000 million users.
