00:01:52,756 action

Based on the 1955 novel “The Good Shepherd” by Cecil Scott Forester, the film takes place at the beginning of the Second World War. An international convoy of 37 Allied ships crosses the North Atlantic, 5 days of which without air support. Commander Krause leads the convoy on the destroyer USS Keeling – nickname “Greyhound” – while being chased by a pack of German submarines.

The film was originally supposed to be released in cinemas in early May, but was postponed due to the corona virus. Apple then secured the distribution rights and has been offering the film on Apple TV + since July 10.

00: 04: 25.258 Acting performance

Tom Hanks tailored the screenplay primarily to one actor – to himself. In this respect, the multiple Academy Award winner shines, but all other actors are more or less lost.

00: 10: 45.610 Technical implementation

Technically, there are some interesting tricks in Greyhound, the implementation is largely convincing. In the end, the color mood is a bit worth discussing, the action scenes could also be more impressive.

00: 27: 45.578 General criticism

Greyhound does a lot of things right, manages to create excitement, but in the end it is a bit arbitrary. An interesting chamber game on the Atlantic, where the lack of synchro is not really a big problem in the end.

00:40:16,703 Apple TV + Strategy

Apple tried something new with Greyhound – the group first bought content (for some money). The bombastic start is striking – it should be the most successful start at TV +. Will Apple change its strategy?
