During the presentation of the new Galaxy Note 20, Samsung also dedicated a section to highlight the new generation of its folding mobile par excellence. Thus, we could see the new design and some of the features of the Galaxy Z Fold 2. Samsung highlighted many of the improvements that the device integrates with respect to the previous model, which we can now see on video.
In the Unpacked, the Galaxy Z Fold2 had some prominence, but it did not take longer than would have been expected for an element of innovation as great as this device. Last year, Samsung together with Huawei, was one of the brave companies that ventured to launch their first folding mobile. We were able to see the impressive first Galaxy Fold, sporting a large folding panel but with certain touches of lack of maturity, of a technology that is being born.
Improvements in all aspects
Now, a video shows the main differences between the first Fold and this new Z Fold 2, especially in terms of usability and aesthetics. Samsung was in charge of admitting that the first model would require a lot of work and improvements, which have now been implemented. As we can see, the new screen of 6.2-inch, compared to 4.6-inch screen of the previous generation. Now it does give the feeling of being in front of a 2020 smartphone when the device is folded, since the screen also occupies the entire front.

The screen is key
Another aspect that is seen as one of the great differences is when the terminal displays all its screen power. The flexible panel has grown from 7.3 to 7.7 inches and that is perceived when comparing them. In addition, the new model has a resolution of 2,213 x 1,689 pixels with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The screen is therefore 13.5% higher to the previous model and also, it shows a hole to house its front camera, something that is noticeable, with respect to the sensor integrated in “notch” of the first Fold. When you turn them over, you can once again see the difference in size between the two and how the camera sensors of the new model are more in line with Samsung’s current design, along with those of the Note 20.
More weight and more battery
However, in terms of weight, the new model grows to 281 grams, compared to 273 grams of the previous generation. It is an aspect that should not be very noticeable in the hand, but that is due to the increase in battery, from 4,380 mAh in the first Fold to 4,500 mAh in the Z Fold2. The video also shows an example with a full screen video, where you can see the differences in the vision of both devices. Let us remember that for the moment, Galaxy Z Fold2 has no release date or estimated price, something that is expected to be revealed by Samsung in the coming weeks.
