What to do if your mobile shows this message

by Tejas Dhawan

Occasionally, our Android phone may display some messages reporting a problem. A message that many users have obtained on some occasion is the one that says “Not Registered in the Network”. Especially users with Samsung and Xiaomi phones have been those who have come across this message, which affects any model in the ranges of these brands.

It is not something that is limited only to these brands, but it is the one that has been detected most frequently. If you ever get the message that says “Not Registered on the Net”, there is a series of solutions you could try so that it stops going out and everything works normally on your phone.

Turn airplane mode on and off or restart your device

There are times when these types of alerts on the phone arise when the phone tries to connect to the network at some point. So an action as simple as is to activate airplane modeLeaving it for a few seconds and then deactivating it again can contribute to the disappearance of this “Not Registered in the Network” message from the phone and the device can be used normally again. You can do this directly in the quick settings, where this mode is.

If you try this, but it doesn’t work, you can try to restart the phone. Today it is still one of the best solutions when something goes wrong on our phone, including this specific case. Often times, if the phone fails to connect to the network, restarting it helps when possible to turn it on again.

Remove the SIM and clean the tray

SIM card

There are cases in which the message of Not Registered in the Network is shown because there is a problem with the SIM. One of them is that there is a failure in the connection between the SIM chip and the phone circuit. So remove the SIM card and clean the tray, compartment and the card itself to make sure there is no dirt, it is something that will help.

There are times when some dust or dirt can be strained, which are the cause of these problems. If we see that there is some dirt on said card or in its compartment, it is important to clean it, to avoid further problems when connecting the SIM with the phone or the network.

Force closure of SIM services

If the message that says Not Registered in the Network appears on the phone screen, it could be that there is a problem with SIM Services, like they have been blocked, for example. Forcing them to close will restart them and then it is possible to register on the network normally. It is a solution that has worked well for many users in the past. The steps to do this are:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Enter Networks and connections.
  3. Look for the SIM card option.
  4. Enter the SIM section.
  5. Find the settings.
  6. Press Force Close SIM Card.

Enter the APN manually

APN on Android

Another common failure is that the operator APN is not properly configured in Android, causing the message of Not Registered in the Network to appear on the phone screen. For this reason, it may be necessary to enter this APN manually on the phone, in order to establish a connection correctly and that this message stops appearing on the screen. Depending on the operator you have, you have to enter a different APN, although here we already show you what they were. To configure them, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Enter Networks and connections.
  3. Enter Mobile Networks.
  4. Look for the APN option.
  5. Enter this section.
  6. Configure the APN of your operator.

Search your operator’s network manually

By default, having the SIM on the phone, the network of our operator is automatically searched. Although when a message like Not Registered in the Network appears on the screen, it is clear that this has not worked well. In addition, it may be the case that we are in another country, where we have to use another operator, when this message appears. To prevent this from happening, we should search for this network manually, in order to establish a connection to it. The steps to do this are:

  1. Open the phone settings.
  2. Enter Networks and connections.
  3. Click on Mobile Networks.
  4. Enter Operator.
  5. Deactivate the option to search automatically.
  6. Wait for the available operators to come out.
  7. Click on the network you want to connect to.

Reset network settings

An option when nothing has worked and the message that says Not Registered in the Network continues to come out, is to proceed to reset the network settings on the phone. It is possible that there has been a problem in your configuration that we were unable to find, but when choosing this option all the network and connection settings return to the original state. It is a somewhat more radical solution, but it does not mean losing data on the phone. The steps to do this are:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Enter the System section.
  3. Click on Reset.
  4. Choose Reset Network Settings.
  5. Press the button to confirm.
  6. Enter your PIN.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Wait for those settings to reset.
