The mobile market contracts and Samsung suffers, but Chinese manufacturers seem immune to the global crisis with Xiaomi and OPPO as the main players in Europe
Is being a turbulent year this 2020, even in an industry like that of smartphones used to almost infinite growth, but which is experiencing its first major crisis in ten years with a bump in the number of sales which however does not seem to affect Chinese manufacturers.
In fact, it is that the studies of specialized consultants such as Canalys for the past second quarter of 2020, leaves Xiaomi and OPPO as clear protagonists with Samsung falling at a record pace both in Spain and in the rest of European markets.
The data does not lie, and that is Xiaomi grows rapidly in Spain already from the throne of the mobile market, with a very significant + 151% keeping a good chunk of the cake, a 37% market share.
The big surprise however has been OPPO, not for its 4% of Compartir in mobile sales in Spain, but because of its 1126% growth which means multiplying by 10 the units shipped with respect to the year 2019.
In a scenario of crisis in mobile sales figures globally, the truth is that Chinese manufacturers seem immune with Xiaomi and OPPO starring in the green numbers in European markets

Samsung drops 45% but it maintains second place with its 20% share, and a Huawei who wanted to be number one in 2020 is satisfied with 18% and the third step of the podium after his problems with the Trump administration.
Apple ** is fourth with 8% in Spain and grows slightly, anticipating one much better numbers in the European global, where the apple firm is second with 21% of Compartir and it grows 42%.
For his part, Samsung continues to lead in Europe with 31% but it doesn’t get rid of huge drops, and here Xiaomi and Huawei share figures tying in third position although Xiaomi in growth and Huawei in clear contraction.
At the European level, the presence of HMD Global in fifth position, Demonstrating that Nokia It continues to have followers even though it has lost sales compared to 2019.
Finally, we also have a graph of the Western European markets separately, which almost copies the global of the old continent with the exception of the swap between Huawei, which follows third with 1 percentage point more, and Xiaomi.
Xiaomi congratulates of these results and it is not for less, because his international landing made him wait longer than he should and despite their late arrival, consumers have opened their doors with determination and joy, even now when OPPO also wants to compete on equal terms:
We would never have achieved these results in the second quarter without the strong support of My Fans, consumers and our business partners during these difficult times. As I have previously commented, Spain has a very important meaning from an emotional point of view for Xiaomi. Without a doubt, Spain is a priority market for us and we will continue expanding our product portfolio so that everyone can enjoy the best technologies.

It remains to be seen if Samsung manages to improve now that the best of its catalog has arrived in the face of this second semester, and we will also see if the departure from this global seclusion scenario encourages sales with the main discount campaigns and the Christmas already in the making and within a couple of months.
