Xiaomi is no longer the brand of demolition prices and good benefits. The company has high the average cost of most of its models, and has gradually lost that halo of being “a bargain.” He Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G He is a rebel who refuses to lose that halo that surrounded those smartphones: 5G, good benefits of premium mid-range and a much more content price than we have seen with its top Xiaomi Mi 10 models, which already reach 1,000 euros in their most powerful configurations.
Among these characteristics that move between the mid-range and the high-end we find 6 GB of RAM, an OLED-type display, four cameras on the back or HDR 10+ compatibility, in addition to 5G. Apart from the discussion of whether or not it is useful to have 5G on a mobile right now, it is an addition that is difficult to find in decent models that move below 400 euros. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G is priced at 350 euros for its version with 64 GB of internal memory and 400 euros for the configuration with 128 GB. I have had the opportunity to use it as my personal mobile for a month, this has been my experience.

5G at all costs?
There is no doubt that one of the marketing claims most used by manufacturers in this 2020 is 5G. Everyone wants to have their own mobile phones compatible with these networks at breakneck speeds (we are talking, on paper, about speeds up to 20 times greater than 4G). And increasingly in models that are no longer top of the range, but mid-range. This is the case of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G, the cheapest Xiaomi mobile phone compatible with this technology and one of the cheapest on the market. But is it worth paying an extra today for 5G?
I honestly don’t think so. For many reasons. On the one hand, because the 5G structure has hardly begun to be deployed in Spain. Although Vodafone already offers it in several cities, the coverage is far from groundbreaking and we still have a long way to go to make it available in the majority. And it is also not very clear what their real applications will be, regardless of the download speed. It is true that its latency is much lower than 4G, which can be a key point in the gaming world. But today it is a technology that is only beginning to take off and it will be a few months and surely years until we can enjoy it you will see.
A mobile with a good screen but somewhat low brightness
He Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite has a screen that skims the performance of a premium panel. Starting with the nature of the panel itself, which is of type AMOLED. These screens have better contrast and more vivid colors than IPS (which are the most common in low-end and mid-range). In addition, it is compatible with HDR10 +, a technology with which more defined colors are reproduced and closer to the original source. Of course, you have to take into account that not all the content you are going to see on your mobile is compatible with HDR. Yes, you will be able to enjoy it on platforms such as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video.
We talk about a large, 6.53-inch panel with Full HD + resolution. In this section I think that no more level of detail is needed for the sizes of today’s mobile phones. In fact, most top models that have 2K resolutions show Full HD resolution by default to save battery power. And, in practice, the difference is imperceptible. The only point that does not convince on this screen is the brightness. No problem indoors, but it is true that on sunny days outdoors it can be difficult to see its contents even if you set it to maximum brightness.
By the way, in this case the screen of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G stays at a refresh rate of 60Hz, moving away from other similarly priced rivals like the Realme X2 Pro that already come with a 90Hz refresh rate. Is it something that you will notice on a day to day basis? If you don’t make very extensive use of the phone, it’s not likely. It shows in the fluidity of movements through the menu and in the animations when opening and closing an app, but it is not a groundbreaking addition. Also in those games that are compatible with this improvement, although we are honest: most of us usually play titles that do not have a graphic load so powerful as to notice the difference.
Power and good RAM, but not so smooth experience
In the bowels of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G we find a Snapdragon 765G processor, along with a 6 GB RAM memory. This RAM is above what we usually see in mid-range models, and it is a pleasure to be able to open applications without worrying that they will affect the overall performance of the equipment. Of course, it seems to me that with the good insides that this mobile has, the experience does not correspond so much with what was expected. It is not that it works slow or bad, but there are times when gives a slow or jerky feeling I have not experimented with other models of the brand.
The internal memory of this model depends on the configuration we choose. The most basic has 64 GB of internal memory and the most advanced 128 GB. Here is something important to keep in mind. Xiaomi has sacrificed the option of inserting a microSD card (yes we can put two nanoSIM cards), so you will not be able to expand the space in case you run out. If you are prone to taking many photos and videos or downloading many files, it is recommended that you go to the 128 GB version.
Four cameras that meet
The photographic section of this model is more than correct, but not surprising. We have four cameras in the back and a simple camera for taking selfies. What I like most of all is its 2 megapixel lens for macro photos. Not only because it suits me very well for my work. If you like detail photos, it is a very interesting addition that will give you a lot of play. From objects to small animals, or even photos in which you look for the contrast between an element from close up and a completely unfocused background. Of course, it is not a high resolution and you will notice if you enlarge the image.
Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G photo gallery
He main sensor has a resolution of 48 megapixels. Like many mobile cameras in recent months, what it does is combine four pixels into one to offer you 12 megapixel photos with greater sharpness and detail both during the day and at night photos. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G camera complies in low light environments, although without being outstanding. We also have a Secondary wide-angle sensor for taking larger photos. Something that is greatly appreciated to capture the beauty of landscapes or monuments and buildings that escape a normal sensor. Of course, its 8 megapixel resolution seems a bit fair to me. The last sensor is depth and is designed so that distances can be better captured when creating blur or bokeh effects.
One of the sections that I like the most of the camera of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G is its camera app. I think the modes are well distributed and it is easy to access everything you are looking for. In addition, we have a pro mode from which we can access each camera lens and change different values of the photo.
As for the camera for selfies, it has a resolution of 16 megapixels and meets what you can expect in a mid-range terminal. It suffers somewhat more in low-light conditions, but overall you’re going to get decent photos in almost every setting.
Curved back design
In the design part, it must be said that it is one of the points in which it is most noticeable that Xiaomi has cut in order to reduce the costs of the phone. For example, the front camera is placed on a notch or eyebrow at the top center instead of being perforated on the screen itself, as if it happens with its older brother Xiaomi Mi 10. After several models in which I have been living with the perforated camera, the truth is that it feels a bit like a step back, although after a few days you get used to it and it hardly bothers you. On the other hand, I am not convinced by the side frames of the screen that leave a fairly wide black stripe between the contents themselves and the edge of the mobile, leaving a less premium feeling.
He Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G is quite thin, 8 millimeters, but you have to take into account that the rectangular module with four cameras stands out in the back from the top left. This casing is curved and has a beautiful color between purple and blue that changes according to the light that falls on it. Of course, with that mirror format that is a magnet for fingerprints and dirt that quite tarnishes the final result. maybe What I liked least about this mobile is the placement of its speaker in the lower part on the right. It is an area where I naturally place my hand when grabbing the phone and cut the sound output very easily. Speaking of sound, we have a headphone output that is very useful both for listening to music and for using our headphones as an FM radio. This feature has disappeared from many models but radio lovers will appreciate it.
Correct but less autonomy than I expect in a Xiaomi
We will not always have an off-road mobile, but one of the things that I liked the most about the majority of Xiaomi models that have passed through my hands is the endurance in the day to day. So the The Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G’s 4,160 milliamp battery has left me somewhat cold. With continued use it can last a whole day of use but I have always had to put it to charge at night. Of course, I have to break a spear in favor of Xiaomi in the optimization that makes the mobile when you are not using it. It is the most spectacular thing I have seen, to the point that you can still leave it on the nightstand without charging and find it the next morning with just a couple less points of battery.
Price and opinions
The Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G can find in Spanish stores for a price of 350 euros for its version with 64 GB of internal memory and 400 euros for its version with 128 GB of memory. In short, we are facing a very interesting premium mid-range mobile, in the end what matters least (or what matters least, in my opinion) is that compatibility with 5G. The cameras are very successful, it has the power of a higher-end terminal and has a good balance of characteristics. On the negative side, it is necessary to mention both the lack of a microSD card slot and the design, which does not give me that feeling of elegance of other rivals and of the same devices of the brand.
