The Chinese technology manufacturer Xiaomi is expanding its offer in Europe and has confirmed a circulating rumor. Next month the TV stick of the company with Android TV will also appear in Germany.
With the Mi TV stick, Amazon’s Fire TV Stick and Google’s Chromecast in particular are likely to have a major competitor. Rumors that the device will also be available in Germany have been around for a long time. Since this week there is official certainty. The new stick should appear with the Android operating system 9.0. By plugging in the stick via HDMI and connecting it to the WiFi, you can convert the TV into a Smart TV in just a few steps.
All common streaming services such as Netflix, Prime Video, Spotify, YouTube or Disney Plus should be available to customers. The stick is supplied with power via a micro USB connection. A Bluetooth remote control will also be included, as can be seen from the first information. Netflix and Prime Video can be called up directly via dedicated buttons on the remote control.
The Mi TV stick supports Dolby Audio and DTS Surround Sound. Google Assistant support is also on board. The voice assistant can be used via its own button and an integrated microphone. The main memory of the device is 1 gigabyte. In addition, 8 gigabytes of flash memory are available for apps. The Chromecast function can also be used to transfer content from mobile devices to the TV.
A shortcoming is already known. The Mi TV stick will only support Full HD resolution at 60 frames per second. 4K content cannot be played. It is currently unknown whether and when a UHD version will be released. The Mi TV stick should be available in Germany in mid-August. The price will be 39.99 euros in Europe.
