The usage behavior of viewers changed in the first half of the year – the main editorial team for new media on ZDF sees the reason for the strong demand in the offer strategy.
A record summer for the ZDF media library: In July, the streaming platform recorded a total of 104.6 million views – the values are 45 percent higher than in the same period last year. July is thus continuing the strong first half of the year with around 120 million sightings and around 140 million visits per month. The ZDF media library confirms the unusually strong interest in the planned highlights of the ZDF digital channels: self-produced series and documentaries were well received by the viewers.
Series under the label “neoriginal” were seen 6.8 million times last month. The most successful highlight was the drama series “Sløborn”, which was clicked over 3 million times in the first two weeks. But the documentaries from ZDFinfo also achieved a whopping 5.8 million sightings in July. With over 400,000 sightings, “Fahrenheit 11/9” was one of the most used by Michael Moore.
According to Eckart Gaddum, head of the main editorial office for new media on ZDF, the success of the past few months has spurred us on to modernize the ZDF media library. In the coming months, further accents for design, usability and especially for the media library will be worked on.
