Horror and thriller in summer: the second film of the new “Mystery” series on ZDF is a free TV premiere.
Probably the highlight of the “Mystery” Wednesday series in the second is today’s science fiction thriller “Anon – With the eyes of the killer” by Andrew Niccol. The director staged his future version of the loss of all privacy as a crime thriller using the style of film noir. To differentiate between the real world and the recording, Niccol switched between two different image formats.
In the not too distant future in New York: By means of a biosynthetic chip that is planted in every person, the life of every person is recorded from their own perspective. The police have access to the data, which are stored like films in the so-called ether. Sal Frieland, a cop with the New York police, can see what the victims or other people saw with a crime. Accordingly, the crime rate has dropped sharply. But a series of murders breaks Frieland’s track record. To investigate the hacker and the alleged murderer, Sal investigates undercover. The leading roles in the sci-fi flick are Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried.
“Anon – With the eyes of the killer” will run this Wednesday (July 22nd) at 11.30pm as a free TV premiere on ZDF. Next Wednesday (July 29th at 11:30 p.m.) follows the horror film “The Darkness” by director Greg McLean with Kevin Bacon. At the end of the “Mystery” series, ZDF will show M. Night Shyamalan’s psychological thriller “Split” with James McAvoy on Wednesday, August 5 at 11:15 p.m.
