ZDF puts an end to the crime series “Schwarzach 23”. The last of a total of four films with the Bavarian police family Germinger can be seen in August.

A spokeswoman for the station confirmed this at the request of the German press agency. The ZDF decided to bring the crime series to a finale, the broadcaster said. “With a large number of rows, we would like to continue to have the opportunity to be flexible, to try out new things and to develop further in our overall portfolio.”

With its “mix of thriller suspense and black humor, dark thrill and entertaining family quarrel, the series is a successful eye-catcher in ZDF prime time”. The rate development was not very noticeable: After around 5.5 million viewers at the start in October 2015, the participation in parts two and three fell to values below five million. The end of the series has nothing to do with the quota, added the spokeswoman. In the last case, “Schwarzach 23 and the murderous self”, investigator Franz Germinger junior (Maximilian Brückner) initially deals with a dead person on the bus.

ZDF shows the film “Schwarzach 23: And the murderous self” on August 31 at 8:15 p.m.
