Until mid-July, ZDF had assured producers that they would pay 50 percent of the additional costs for interruptions in filming that resulted from the corona crisis. The broadcaster has now extended the commitment.
By mid-September, the commitment should now be valid, as the broadcaster reports. In addition, installment payments should continue to be brought forward. This is intended to improve the liquidity of production companies to which the second company intends to continue to place orders even during the crisis. In the case of contract productions, the ZDF wants to continue to cover all additional costs that may be incurred, for example, for additional occupational safety and hygiene measures.
Director of ZDF Dr. Thomas Bellut comments: “We accept our responsibility and do what we can to support the television industry in the best possible way. With our package of measures, we want to help bridge the time until a state default fund takes effect. I expressly welcome the initiative of the federal and state governments. Close coordination is now necessary so that Germany can follow the example of other European countries. We will only manage to maintain the diversity and creativity of the German production landscape together. “
